What is Restylane silk?
Restylane Silk is a hyaluronic acid skin filler. It is specifically designed to treat superficial, fine facial (rather than deep facial) lines; especially those around the mouth and in the lips. Restylane Silk is gentle enough to be used under the eyes to fill in the hollows causing troublesome dark circles. When injected, Restylane Silk binds to water in our dermis and lifts the overlying skin. Restylane Silk is made with Hyaluronic Acid, a substance naturally found in our skin, but which wears away with age. Restylane Silk injections replace this substance to instantly lift fine wrinkles to make you look younger and refreshed.
How will Dr. Davis use Restylane Silk to improve my appearance?
Dr. Davis will use Restylane Silk to fill in thin lines of the lip and the skin surrounding the mouth. These lines are caused by everyday activities such as smiling, talking, sipping on straws, smoking and whistling. These include the “smile lines” around the corners of the mouth, the vertical lip lines above and below the mouth, and the “marionette” lines extending down from the corners of the mouth. Dr. Davis will use Restylane Silk to add volume to these areas, instantly taking away years from your appearance and making you look rested, refreshed and less stern. Restylane Silk can be used to fill in under eye hollows and crowsfeet. Treatment can be expected to last 6 months, however results vary.
Will my Restylane Silk treatment with Dr. Davis be painful?
Restylane Silk is pre-made with the anesthetic Lidocaine and this has eliminated most of the discomfort associated with this treatment. Dr. Davis will also use an ultrafine needle used during injection, so patient discomfort is minimal. However, you do have the option to come 30 minutes prior to your appointment to sit with anesthetic cream at no additional charge.
How should I prepare my treatment with Dr. Davis?
Avoid the Following:
- All pain relievers except Tylenol (acetaminophen): avoid Aleve, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, and even low dose baby aspirin (unless recommended by your physician).
- Vitamin E and all multi vitamins containing Vitamin E. Foods high in Vitamin E should also be avoided such as: sunflower seeds, dry roasted almonds, olives (including olive oil – plain, in salad dressings, and on pizza/pasta), papaya, spinach, arugula, broccoli, blueberries, cinnamon, and horseradish
- Herbal remedies such as St. John’s Wort, Ginkgo Biloba, Ginger Root, Fish Oil, etc.
- Alcoholic beverages (optional)
Take the following:
We recommend that you purchase Arnica tablets, which can be purchased at the office. Follow the instructions on the package; you can start taking these pills as early as a few days before your procedure. We suggest that you take them at least the day before and the day of the treatment. You may also want to take them after. Arnica gel is not nearly as effective.
An alternative supplement to minimize bruising after the treatment is Bromelain (pineapple extract). You can take 500mg twice a day for 3 days following a procedure. You should begin taking Bromelain the day of your treatment, after the procedure has been completed. Bromelain can be taken in addition to or instead of Arnica tablets, though Bromelain should not be taken before the treatment, only after.
