What is Clear + Brilliant?
Clear + Brilliant is an exciting, new, non-invasive laser treatment perfect for improving dull, sun damaged skin. It can reduce excess pigmentation, tighten pores and improve overall skin tone, texture, and radiance. This procedure is comfortable, affordable, safe for all skin colors, and beneficial for both sexes. Turn back the signs of aging and keep your skin looking younger and glowing in just three to five treatments. The procedure is quick, with little downtime after- which is great for New Yorkers with busy schedules!
How does the Clear + Brilliant laser Work?
Clear + Brilliant is a diode fractional laser that refreshes your skin by creating “microscopic treatment zones” that replace damaged tissue with healthier skin. This laser also stimulates collagen production and makes the skin appear tighter and brighter.
What areas of the body can Dr. Davis treat with the Clear + Brilliant laser?
Dr. Davis can use Clear + Brilliant for rejuvenating the skin on your face, neck, chest, hands, and other areas of the body. In addition, any area with dyschromia (dark pigment) regardless of the cause can be improved to create uniform coloration.
How many Clear + Brilliant treatments will I need?
Typically, Dr. Davis recommends a series of three to five treatments given two weeks apart. She will evaluate your skin and recommend the best course of treatment based on your problem(s), complexion type, and desired outcome. If you are satisfied with your results after just three treatments, there is no need to proceed further.
Is Clear + Brilliant Safe?
Yes. Clear + Brilliant was approved by the FDA in May, 2011 and dermatologists nationwide have incorporated this device into their practices and use it daily. It has been demonstrated on popular TV shows like The Dr. Oz Show and The View.
How long is the treatment?
The actual treatment takes 15-20 minutes, but we recommend that you arrive 30 minutes prior to your appointment to sit with a topical anesthetic cream (included in the cost of the procedure).
Does Clear + Brilliant hurt and what will my face look like after the treatment?
Patients will feel an increased sensation of heat during the procedure. We apply a topical anesthetic cream prior to your session to minimize this discomfort. Although your skin will look red through the evening of your treatment, this redness will be resolved by the following morning.
Who can benefit from the Clear + Brilliant laser?
Clear + Brilliant is appropriate for adults of both sexes and is safe for all skin types and colors. Unlike other laser treatments, Clear + Brilliant can be used all over the face on males, since it does not cause hair loss. Look younger and radiant in just 20 minutes!
How long does it take to see results?
Results can be seen as early as the same day; your skin will feel smoother and appear more refreshed and radiant that evening. One of the many advantages of Clear + Brilliant is that after completing the recommended series of treatments, results do not fade if proper skin care is practiced. Patients are advised to continue wearing sunscreen to prevent further pigmentation and sun damage. We recommend coming in for touch up treatments twice a year (or before special events) to maintain your results.
How should I prepare for my Clear + Brilliant treatment with Dr. Davis?
In preparation for your treatment, Dr. Davis advises patients to avoid using topical Retinoids (found in some acne and anti-aging products) at least two weeks prior to the treatment day.
Is there any special care that needs to taken after a Clear + Brilliant treatment with Dr. Davis?
Clear + Brilliant is designed to minimize the side effects of traditional laser treatments. Immediately following your procedure, you may experience transient redness and swelling. We recommend that you do not apply makeup for the remainder of the day. The redness and swelling will resolve within a few hours and certainly by the next morning. You may continue with your daily routine, but we do not recommend activities that involve sweating. Patients should avoid the gym, sauna, steam room, and facial or massage treatments that evening. As the skin begins to heal, you may notice dryness. Using moisturizing lotions such as Hyalis (sold in our office), or CeraVe (sold in pharmacies) should improve this post-treatment condition.
Exposure to the sun before and after the treatment should be avoided. The skin is more sensitive to the sun following treatment and sun exposure can increase the risk of unwanted pigmentation. Following treatment, patients are urged to apply a high SPF sunscreen (30 or higher) daily.
Who should not have treatment with Clear + Brilliant?
We recommend avoiding this laser treatment if you (are):
- Using Accutane (Isotretinoin) or other oral retinoids.
- Have significant redness in the area of treatment from skin conditions such as actinic keratoses, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea etc.
- Treating skin that is already recovering from a cosmetic procedure (e.g. chemical peel, laser resurfacing etc.).
- Have had a Botox or dermal filler procedure within the past two weeks. If you are planning to have both treatments done, we will start with the Clear + Brilliant and then continue with the Botox or the filler. If you have already had Botox or filler treatments, we recommend waiting two weeks before the Clear + Brilliant procedure.
